Last week, low wage workers around the country held one day strikes at fast food restaurants to raise awareness about how poorly they are being paid, most of whom make only minimum wage. Here in Massachusetts, the minimum wage has been stuck at $8 an hour since 2008 and workers are long overdue for a raise. Many minimum wage workers can’t afford the basic necessities. Now, a new coalition, Raise Up Massachusetts is working to raise the minimum wage and ensure that it keeps pace with the rising cost of living.
